Stargazer Mark shares a new single, "An Autumn Tune"

Stargazer Mark (Mark C. Westberg) released a new single, "An Autumn Tune," that seamlessly rises from its Rock, Jazz, Indie, and Dark Alternative influences to evoke the transient yet meaningful moments in life. The song beckons towards change and self-discovery through a live-garage vibe that is both raw and intimate, untamed yet personal.

Filmed at LKN Studios in Santa Fe, “An Autumn Tune” was influenced by the bright input of percussionist Kenny Brito, backing vocalist Cheyenne Black, and bass player Ruben Anselmo Marquez, who also engineered the sound. Bonding together, they’ve built a textured, organic work redolent of autumn’s rich hues — a season that’s long provided a muse for Mark’s artistry.

“Fall is home for me,” Mark says. “It’s an era of mystery and belonging and acceptance of change. This song pulls from my time in Santa Fe, where the season carries a palpable sense of authenticity and personal magic.”

Thematically, “An Autumn Tune” speaks back to Mark’s perspective as a queer, nonbinary, and mentally divergent artist. And their journey, a path strewn with victories in elements as disparate as theatre, visual art, and community organizing, lends the song an extraordinary standard, for lack of a better word. It’s a bittersweet and ultimately joyful goodbye to those fleeting experiences that shape us, and the song reflects this in its haunting melodies and reflective lyrics.

Mark’s introspection of the “spooky season” imbues the single with a cheeky and philosophical layer. “Halloween has always been a metaphor for self-acceptance and embracing the misunderstood,” they explain. “That small amount of ‘spooky magic’ is a year-long lesson to remind us to be, to exist, to be who we are, who we want to be, how we want to live, to allow ourselves to imagine the things that frighten us the most.”
