John Roman – you've seen the name before, he's a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde of some sorts. You may have first spotted him holding the dancefloor hostage with his previous thrashy electro productions, or maybe you just discovered the guy after hearing his laidback pool house alter ego Loopjack. The man goes both ways, but when the night falls and the air begins to cool in the midst of a humid summer in Toronto John throws on the darker cape to further melt some faces. And one of the many tracks he deploys is the B-side off his latest EP Sala.

Scrambling beats like it was no body's business John dug deep into draby electro and shuffled with some tangy metallic future. Breakdowns dissolving into a dark minimal abyss only to have suspenseful orchestras build and peak in Club Cheval's latest remix by Canblaster. A definite favourite of the night, John lit the club up in a flare of zip, zaps, and piano stabs.

Riding on a gloomy groove the man behind the decks cued up Spectr's Dance 4 Me. A fluid drum sob with snare rhythms wailing at your feet. Toning the energy down a few ticks with a crank to the bliss and style of forward thinking house music. The vibes were warm and authentic with John showcasing the scenic qualities of his own music while ending on a note that tipped its hat to Toronto's rumbling local talents.

And to close local tech house DJ Andy Ares was called onto the scene. I'm usually not a fan of the more repetitive minimal techno, but the way this man links his sounds together is so silky smooth that you really have no choice but to get up and move. If you're looking to catch a show in this town and spot Andy on the after hours bill don't hesitate to push the trigger. I've seen him resurrect a crowd dead to the broken vibes of countless hours of tiring dubstep so quick it felt like an awakening.

If you haven't, be sure to check out John's latest EP that's been gracing the decks of your world renowned favourites like Laidback Luke, Congorock, Brodinski, and Fake Blood. You'll find RECLUSION John's latest mixtape up above so take a peek to see where his head his at. And of course, with all this great tunage floating around the least you could do is follow follow follow the links below.
