Hommeboy releases "This One" in support of those affected in Tigray

Atlanta-based artist Hommeboy pens his new single "This One" for you to move, for you to dance, and for you to feel something. "This One" is a 'here I am' message as he lets everyone knows this is the kind of hit that is what you need.

This minute and a half song is Hommeboy's second single from his upcoming EP, ERA of Good Feelings. This feel-good song's a timely release meant to uplift those around the world affected by war and death.

The visual piece alongside the song gives us wonderful afro-centricity as Hommeboy and his group of friends hang out with their fros out – loud and proud. The music video was directed by Kevin Wall.

The black diaspora has been affected by what's going on overseas in Ukraine. There has been videos of Ukrainian military officials and police blocking Black men and women from boarding a train. The treatment of Africans living in Ukraine has caused the hashtag #AfricansinUkraine to trend on social media for the past two weeks. Hommeboy wants to be more mission-driven with this drop as 100% of proceeds from donations of "This One" + site will go to support the black people, women, and marginalized people in not only Ukraine, but also in Ethiopia. There's been horrifying civil war going on in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. All proceeds will also be going towards all that's happening in Tigray and bloodshed of Ethiopian blood.

Hommeboy pieces together the vision of his method of activism in the video by more-so allowing all black people across the world to know that "this one's for you." This track is interpreted somewhat as a head nod to those who understand and who need to see that they're acknowledged. The visual brings that story to life and Hommeboy tells us, "I'm excited to paint the full picture of Era of Good Feelings. A movement always starts with one.
