Phantom Youth embark on a hazy journey with new song "This Sacred Place"

Dreampop indie band Phantom Youth arrived on the music scene with their slushy 2022 Country Roads two-track project. The project was a glimpse into the vibrant but often hazy world of Phantom Youth, and just how talented they are. The band is riding high on their self-titled debut album, released earlier this year. Blending mystical elements of minimal lyrics and silky production, the 10-track project became a successful look into the mind of the feelings-stricken Phantom Youth. Just months after, Phantom Youth is back with their new single, "This Sacred Place".

This single is the band's first since their 2023 release, Promises. The quality of isolated electronic pop has become somewhat of a trademark. The track is haunting and comforting at the same time, breathing new life into the beckoning end. Feelings of loss and heartbreak are echoed throughout the small chorus, giving the title a new meaning.

Shoegaze is an area of music where a band's following could be an offset of their talent. In Phantom Youth's case, their talent far surpasses their fanbase. The band's unique method of dissecting human weight in a haunting and interpretive way puts them leagues above the rest. Much like their previous projects, Phantom Youth strings synth wave, indie pop, and shoegaze into one simmering lush track.

"This Sacred Place" is a track of loneliness and wandering amidst a hazy and appealing view. The lyrics don't pack as much of a punch as the production-heavy genre. Powerful enough to get musically lost in the vibrant field of dreamy color, Phantom Youth injects listeners into the realm that they call "This Sacred Place."
