Aphex Twin celebrates Selected Ambient Works II's 30th birthday

A treat for all, ambient electronic titan Aphex Twin has re-released Selected Ambient Works II to celebrate its 30th birthday.

Aphex Twin is no stranger to unearthing old or previously-unheard tracks, and the 30th anniversary re-release of SAW II is a new expanded edition which includes a previously vinyl-exclusive track, as well as two tracks which previously didn’t exist on physical formats.

Originally released in 1994, Selected Ambient Works II was created and put together by Aphex Twin (real name Richard D James) when he was in his early 20s as a follow up to his original Selected Ambient Works 85-92. The album differed from the original SAW by being mostly composed of beatless ambient music, which according to Aphex Twin himself was based on his own lucid dreams.

Selected Ambient Works II Expanded Edition is available on Spotify or available for purchase on Rough Trade.
