Sandhouse’s latest single, “Bite Me Back,” is a strong follow-up to their debut release, “Sick Of Your Face,” and it plunges listeners into an atmosphere of intense, dark allure. With a sound that channels the spirit of ‘90s alternative rock while remaining distinctly their own, UK duo Sandhouse (Anna Sutherland and Caspar Holloway) expertly weave emotional tension with rich, haunting sonics in a track that feels both raw and magnetic.

Opening with Sutherland’s ethereal, almost otherworldly vocals, the song pulls you into a landscape of twisted romance and dependency. Lyrics like “I’m addicted to the touch that bites me back” and “I am better when you turn me blue” capture the desperation and self-abandonment of a toxic love affair. Sutherland’s voice brings a sense of longing and vulnerability that’s as unsettling as it is beautiful, reinforcing the track’s theme of losing oneself in the intoxicating grip of a consuming relationship.

The instrumentation in “Bite Me Back” builds slowly but steadily, creating an intense, almost hypnotic rhythm. The haunting guitar layers and subtle beats underscore the sense of danger in the lyrics, complementing the eerie beauty of Sutherland’s vocal delivery. Produced by Holloway, the intricate guitar work and arrangement add a gritty edge, making the track as engaging musically as it is thematically.

Sandhouse’s sound is unmistakably steeped in the nostalgia of 90s alt-rock, yet “Bite Me Back” feels fresh, capturing the vulnerability and chaos of relationships in a way that feels both timeless and modern. With the duo's debut EP expected in the coming months, Sandhouse look set to deepen their distinctive blend of darkness and beauty, marking them as an act to watch in the alternative music scene.
